Dubai rewards a tight plan. Here's a two-day itinerary that balances the old city with the new.
Day one: old Dubai
Start at the Al Fahidi historical district, then take an abra across the creek to the spice and gold souks. End the day with dinner at a waterfront restaurant in Deira.
Day two: desert and skyline
Head into the desert in the morning for dune bashing and sandboarding. Back in the city, watch the sunset from the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, then catch the fountain show below.
